Question

When I launch DiskWarrior 4.0, the application reaches the splash screen and DiskWarrior logo but never progresses past the Starting Services message. Why?

Answer

If you are experiencing this issue, it is likely that a third-party application is interfering with the DiskWarrior application.

One possibility is that you have Application Enhancer installed on your computer to enable haxies such as FruitMenu, WindowShade, or ShapeShifter. If so, you will need to add DiskWarrior to the Master Exclude List" in the Application Enhancer Preference Pane.

To do so:

1. Open System Preferences

2. Click on the Application Enhancer Preference Pane located in the "Other" section.

3. Select Application Enhancer at the top of the haxie list.

4. Once selected, there will be a tab entitled "Master Exclude List" - select the "Master Exclude List" tab.

5. Use the plus (+) sign at the bottom of the window to open a navigation window. Navigate to your copy of DiskWarrior in the Utilities folder. Select your copy of DiskWarrior to add it to the Master Exclude List.

You should now be able to launch DiskWarrior normally and Rebuild the directory of your drives.

NOTE: This is for an installed copy of DiskWarrior only. This behavior does not happen when the computer is started up using the DiskWarrior CD.
